Spira Reforged · v0.1.0
OfficialA tougher Spira, with more room for each character
Spira Reforged brings a tougher Spira, broader character kits and new encounter and equipment data. These notes cover what is prepared in the first published content package, 0.1.0. Some systems still need matching Hooks, learning nodes or other components before they are available in game.
Highlights
- A different combat rhythm. The package contains rebalanced monster data, revised encounters and character commands designed to make party choices and MP management matter more.
- A distinct role for each character. Kimahri gains an MP-based Blue Magic kit, Lulu gets new spell options, Yuna expands party support, and the physical characters receive more focused tools.
- Arena+ encounter catalogs and additional equipment-customization data are included. Install the content with Launcher 1.0.11 or newer, and keep its separate runtime requirements in mind.
What's included
- Monsters and bosses. The rebalance revisits regular enemies, bosses and endgame opponents. Its direction is to preserve the early learning curve while making later fights more demanding.
- Encounter variety. Revised formations change which enemies appear together, with an additional encounter included in the prepared data. The focus is on hand-built matchups and different combinations of threats.
- Kimahri: Blue Magic beyond the Overdrive gauge. His prepared kit gives familiar Ronso Rage techniques MP-based counterparts, alongside Demita and Lancet+. The regular Blue Magic version of Thrust Kick does not eject its target; the original Overdrive remains a separate action.
- Lulu: more ways to spend her magic. The kit includes Multi-* elemental spells, Drainga, Osmose-ga and Biora. The Multi-* spells distribute three hits among random targets, rather than striking every enemy three times. Biora belongs to Lulu in this package.
- Yuna: party-wide support. Reflectga, Protectga, Shellga, Esuna-ga and Dispelga extend her support options. Their MP costs make covering the whole party a meaningful choice instead of a free replacement for single-target utility.
- Wakka: disruption with a focused kit. Quad Foul combines Sleep, Silence, Dark and Poison across enemies, while Jinx Ball is a two-hit single-target skill. His new tools focus on disruption and concentrated attacks.
- Rikku: more ways to steal. Mugra combines two hits with stealing from one target, while Mugga takes the idea across the enemy group. Pickpocket and access to Copycat round out the prepared kit.
- Tidus: Bladestorm. His new active skill is a three-hit attack against one target. Bladestorm is his one new active command in this package, keeping the kit focused.
- Auron: pressure and protection. Four Mass Break skills apply the familiar break effects across enemies, with Sentinel++ and Provokeja supporting his defensive role. The wider reach comes with a substantial MP cost.
- Equipment customization. Adjusted auto-abilities, expanded customization data and revised weapon templates add more choices when building equipment. Some custom abilities still use existing in-game names or descriptions.
- Arena+ support. The content includes a tiered challenge catalog and encounter redirects, with formations that can bring several major opponents together. The matching Arena+ runtime is separate; the documented menu route is F7, not a new interaction with the arena NPC.
- Effects and presentation assets. Custom visual-effect resources accompany the authored magic and encounter data, giving the content a visual side as well as a balance pass.
Balance
- Kimahri pays for powerful support. The MP-based White Wind costs 110 MP and Mighty Guard costs 250 MP. These costs belong to the regular Blue Magic variants; they do not turn every Ronso Rage Overdrive into an MP spell.
- Lulu trades MP for burst. The four Multi-* spells cost 180 MP each and deliver three random-target hits. Drainga costs 68 MP, Osmose-ga costs 12 MP and Biora costs 48 MP in the published package.
- Yuna has a price for wider coverage. Reflectga, Esuna-ga and Dispelga cost 36 MP each; Protectga and Shellga cost 30 MP each. Decide whether the whole group needs the effect before committing the MP.
- Wakka chooses control or concentrated hits. Quad Foul costs 180 MP, while Jinx Ball costs 250 MP. Pick the action that fits the enemies in front of you.
- Rikku and Tidus have costly attack options. Mugra, Mugga and Bladestorm cost 180 MP each. Their different targeting patterns are the reason to choose between them, not an assumption that each is a free upgrade to a basic attack.
- Auron can break a whole enemy group. Each of the four Mass Break skills costs 120 MP, so weakening several enemies at once takes a meaningful investment.
- Difficulty is more than bigger numbers. The aim is for enemy strength, encounter composition, status pressure and expensive attacks or support commands to work together. Party choices and MP reserves should matter alongside raw damage.
Known issues
- Prepared commands are not automatically learned. Access depends on the matching character, learning or grant setup and Hooks support. Some commands and encounters still need broader playtesting, and Sphere Grid distribution is not finished.
- The new wind spell work is later than 0.1.0. Aero, Aerora and Aeroga are not in this published snapshot. More recent local files and experiments should not be mistaken for content already delivered by this release.
- S.I.N. is still a separate, limited project. This content download does not include its Hooks runtime or every custom spell module. Broader regional skills, monster Overdrives and late-game encounters remain a mix of prepared assets and work awaiting integration or playtesting.
- Custom in-game text, further armor work and several late-game plans remain unfinished. This first package does not promise a complete new campaign, every Dark Aeon revision or a full party redesign.
- Keep a copy of your saves and your existing mod setup. Use a matching Launcher and Hooks configuration, and follow the package requirements when combining Spira Reforged with other mods.
