OfficialMore control over battles, effects, archives and chests
This update will be available soon through the Launcher. This update brings new battle and effect authoring tools, VBF archive management and optional Hook configuration. It also fixes chest reward editing, recovered chest positions and several saving and navigation issues.
Highlights
- Edit chest rewards offline and display positions recovered from field events in Treasure Map.
- Adjust battle openings, formations and static camera previews in Aurora Chamber.
- Create, organize and repack VBF archives directly in the editor.
What’s new
- Aurora Chamber can edit First Strike and initial CTB delay, or prepare an opening that gives monsters priority when the encounter has no editable opening yet.
- Replace monsters in occupied formation slots and open their shared AI directly in Monster AI Editor. Opening and formation edits can be saved together.
- Magic DLL Editor adds editing for supported keyframe values, start times, durations and loops, with timing displayed in whole frames.
- More supported effects expose controls for scale, movement, acceleration, angles, random variation, drawing and textures.
- Edit existing X, Y and Z resource coordinates and choose compatible resources for supported model and shape effects.
- A native-interface inspector shows how recognized effects are initialized and updated, including supported matrix operations. These inspection views are read-only.
- The VBF archive manager can open or create archives, add files and folders, replace entries by drag-and-drop, delete entries and extract selected content or the whole archive. Repacking saves to a separate archive.
- Thunder Plains can load lightning-dodge settings directly from the installed game archive when extracted files are unavailable. Saving creates editable project copies.
- Optional Hook authoring adds an explicit OnlyMod profile. Vanilla remains the default, and Hook-specific controls become available through the selected profile.
- Prepare Vanguard rules, Hook auto-abilities, Elemental settings, and F7 and Scan options in the Hook authoring panel, with checks for conflicting identities and unsupported values.
- Configure AP and Gil reward rates per monster, preview the changes and resolve conflicts before exporting the Hook configuration.
- Prepare text-language packages with their required font, atlas and shadow assets, and check the package against the selected recipient before export.
Improvements
- Aurora Chamber keeps locations and encounters in visible lists and groups positions, cameras, openings, HD maps and diagnostics into horizontal tabs.
- Position and camera controls keep labels beside their values. Editing one coordinate preserves the precision of the others, and saving keeps the selected encounter.
- Filtering the effect tree preserves pending edits, and comparisons with effect copies include later records instead of stopping at the first changed record.
- Workshop, Ascension and Arcana inspection tools show missing requirements and incompatible inputs before package preparation.
- Hook package export uses a separate destination and includes a preview, file inventory and recovery information. Changed or missing inputs must be checked again before export.
- The archive manager offers a full integrity check, progress and cancellation. It preserves unchanged archive content, backs up existing output files and verifies the new archive before replacing the destination.
- Updated panels have clearer English and Brazilian Portuguese labels, visible keyboard focus and more room for numeric values.
Fixes
- Treasure Map now keeps reward and quantity edits when switching areas, saving and reopening. Changing the reward type refreshes the available choices, and discarding changes returns to the last saved values.
- Chests use the reward IDs and coordinates from their own event data. Recovered markers no longer collapse at the map center, and alternative rewards remain individually editable.
- Aurora lists encounter files that are missing from the encounter table. Regional variants can open in the 3D battle preview using the selected project data.
- Save-file equipment editing now reads and writes all four native ability slots in the correct positions and rejects values that would extend into the next equipment entry.
- Hook-only auto-abilities are clearly marked and protected from ordinary Auto-Ability edits. Saving also stops when the loaded files cannot be rebuilt without changing unrelated data.
- Monster AI target labels now distinguish all monsters from Aeons and correctly identify the enemy formation slots.
- Thunder Plains reads project paths correctly on Linux. Its related event files are saved together, with restoration if the save cannot finish.
- Supported shape effects now offer the correct sprite-animation resources instead of unrelated geometry choices. Invalid or incompatible resource references stay protected.
Known issues
- Battle-camera previews show the static position and target recovered from the encounter. They do not reproduce runtime transitions, state-dependent shots, zoom or roll.
- Some chest positions still cannot be recovered offline. Their rewards remain editable in the list, without a guessed marker on the map.
- Unrecognized effect structures and dynamic callbacks remain read-only. Effect previews do not guarantee the same result in the game.
- Hook-specific features require a compatible FFX Hooks installation and the source assets requested by the authoring panel. Exporting a configuration does not activate it in a running game.
- Existing battle scripts can change the turn order established by an opening preset. Replacing a formation member retains that monster's AI; editing shared AI also affects other encounters that use it.
- New encounter and advanced effect edits have been checked in the editor and local files. Full in-game validation is still pending.
